Intra-corporate transferee (ICT) in Latvia

You work for a company established outside the European Union (EU) and you are going to be transferred to a branch in Latvia? You can find information below on the conditions, procedures, rights and mobility you can enjoy during your stay.

Conditions

Please note that you have the right to request a temporary residence permit:

  • for a period of up to three years if you request as an intra-corporate transferee to be employed in the position of a manager or specialist,
  • for a period of up to one year if you request as an employee-trainee within the framework of an intra-corporate transfer.

Procedures

Where and how to applyOnce the employer's invitation is approved, a person can apply for a residence permit.
Fees

Fee for examination of documents submitted for application: up to 30 days – 100 euros.

There is a possibility for a fast-track procedure if you want to receive the permit in shorter period of time.

Fees for fast- track –procedure:

  • up to 10 days - 200 euros,
  • up to 5 working days - 400 euros.
Documents required

You should present these documents:

  • A definite sample form for a residence permit request,
  • a passport,
  • a photography,
  • a criminal report issued by a competent institution of the citizenship or the host country, if a third-country national has resided in that country longer than 12 months - citizens of visa-free countries do not submit this document,
  • a document confirming the necessary subsistence.
Duration of validity of permits

The permit is valid for a period of up to three years, if the transferee is employed in a manager or specialist position.

The permit is valid for a period of up to one year, if the transferee is employed in a trainee position.

AppealsYou have a right to appeal the decision before the Head of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs within 30 days.
